As the deadline for the 2nd Annual Agri Investment Indaba Awards approaches, the African Agri Council is shining a light on the critical roles of innovation and technology in transforming African agriculture. The awards feature categories, including the Innovation in Food and Agriculture Award and the Agri-Tech Pioneer Award, dedicated to honouring those at the forefront of this revolution.
The agricultural landscape in Africa is undergoing a rapid transformation, driven by a wave of technological adoption and innovative thinking. From precision farming and drone technology to mobile-based market linkages and biotech solutions, these advancements are enhancing productivity, improving sustainability and creating new economic opportunities. The Agri Investment Indaba Awards are committed to identifying and celebrating the pioneers behind these groundbreaking developments.
“The future of African agriculture is inextricably linked to its ability to innovate and adopt technology that is context-specific and scalable,” stated Reinhard Lotz, Marketing Director of the African Agri Council. “The Awards are not just about recognising a clever idea; they are about validating solutions that have a tangible impact on the ground, that increase yields, reduce waste, and connect farmers to markets more efficiently. These are the projects that attract investment and drive the sector forward.”
The awards are judged by a panel of distinguished experts with deep experience across the agri-value chain. Judges like Professor Gabby Gostina Malope of Toutele Academy and Dr Simphiwe Mngomezulu of the University of KwaZulu-Natal bring academic and practical rigour to the evaluation process, ensuring that winning entries demonstrate not only novelty but also practical application and potential for scale.
The celebration of these technological and innovative breakthroughs will take place at the 8th African Agri Investment Indaba on 26 November 2025. This event is the continent’s premier gathering for agricultural investment, attracting over 800 key stakeholders from governments, financial institutions, and agribusinesses. It provides an unparalleled platform for award winners to gain visibility, connect with potential investors, and showcase their solutions to a powerful audience dedicated to advancing African agriculture.
The African Agri Council encourages all innovators, tech startups, research institutions, and forward-thinking agribusinesses to submit their entries before the deadline of 17 October 2025. By highlighting these success stories, the awards aim to inspire a new generation of problem-solvers and demonstrate that Africa is not just a consumer of technology, but a leading creator of agricultural solutions for the world.
